♡ Sweet Memory ♡ - 2 (2008.6.22-7.9)

Now it is time for the second episode of ♡ sweet memory ♡. ^.^

Happy Moment 开心一刻

Mr.T has a very good memory. He can remember almost everything I tell him. Sometimes he will mention it in a very unexpected way. There are several interesting cases.

Once I told him in China when your fingers scald the popular way to cool them down is just to hold your ears, because we believe ears are the coldest part in our body.
From 20 to 22 June Mr.T was in Oslo. One day when I held a cup of hot water and tried to close the door at the same time, the water spilled onto my arm and instantaneously it became red. I washed it under cold water for a long time. Then it turned to be better. I sent a SMS to Mr.T and described what happened. Just one second, I received his feedback:

"Quick! Hold it against your ear!"

=.= My ear is NOT as big as PiG Zhu(猪八戒) .  By the way, how can my arm to hold my ear? ...

Another case about Mr.T's good memory. Long long ago, I told him when I was in China, my parents and friends gave me many nicknames, such as Meitou (a typical Shanghai girly nickname, exclusively called by my Mum), Chou Jiejie (double my middle name Jie, exclusively called by my Dad), Kongkong (double my Surname Kong, called by my highschool friends), A kong (occasionally called by undergraduate friends) and of course KIKI (popular now).
However, some best friends will also call me Long. Firstly, Kong Long(恐龙) in Chinese means dinosaur. Though the character is not the same (My surname "Kong"(孔) and the "Kong"(恐) in "Kong Long"), the pronunciation of these two words is the same. Therefore, to be funny and creative, Long becomes my nickname.
I think this interpret is very complicated and confusing. As a normal foreigner, it is difficult for Mr.T to really understand it. However, I was wrong. One day, I suddenly asked,
--"Trond, Trond, Trond... Why do your parents call you Trond?"
Without any hesitation, he answered,
--"Because they don't want me to be Kong Long (Dinosaur)"
Hint
: we don't pronounce "d" of "Trond", so Mr.T's name sounds like "T-long"

The third case (Warning: It is not suitable for children under 18 years old!!)  One day, I received a mail about many quite funny mistaken Chinese poems appearing in the exam (中考时出现的错误诗句配对). I explained most of them to Mr.T. Among those poems, one example is 后宫佳丽三千人,铁棒也会磨成针(正解为“三千宠爱在一身”). This explanation is more difficult than that of my nicknames.
Firstly, “铁棒磨成针”means if you keep attrition, even the Think Stick will turn out to be Needle. It implies that you will finally realize your dream if you work harder.
Then “后宫佳丽三千人”infers to the old tradition for Chinese emperor who could have around 3000 wives in his life.
Originally, these two sentence appear in different poems and refer to totally different stories and meanings. However, now someone put them together. Then... (You should be as clever as Mr.T who quickly understood the relations :P)
Also, after many days, once we discussed about the marriage institutions of Muslem. It is said that a Muslem man can at most have four wives. I asked Mr.T,
--"Do you want to be a Muslem? You see, if you were Muslem, you could have Four wives!"
Still without thinking, he replied,
--"NO, I don't want be a Needle..."

If you stay with KIKI for a while, you will easily find KIKI has a tag(口头禅): Na Ge(那个). In English, it is similar as "Well". When my speech can not catch up with my thinking, I will subconsciously speak out "Na Ge". Many people notice this oddity and sometimes make jokes about it. Anyway, I am grateful that Mr.T can not understand Chinese and will never know this secret.
However, Mr.T likes learning Chinese and always pays attention to my conversation with Chinese friends. One day, Mr.T curiously asked,
--"KIKI, when you speak to your friend, you always mention one word..."
--"Which word?" I have some presentiment.
--"Na Ge... what's the meaning of it?"
...%$*!^&#@#@*...

Besides exactly catching what one says, Mr. T also has a talent to accurately repeat what he hears. One day, Mr.T and I finished swimming and walked back to the office. On the way, I saw R, my Chinese friend, walking toward. She put something under her clothes, which made her look strange. I felt very curious and asked,
--"What do you hold? So secret!"
--"Wei Sheng Jin(卫生巾)" R answered in a murmur.
--"Wei Sheng Jin?!" Mr. T repeated loudly and articulately.
Look at innocent Mr.T, both R and I fainted...
Hint: "Wei Sheng Jin" in Chinese refers to sanitary products. It is very private for girls. So you can imagine how embarrassed we were when a Man spoke out in public. Fortunately, we were in Norway. Not so many people know Chinese...

One day I talked with my mum via MSN. She talked while eating watermelon, which made me so desire to eat one of my favorite fruits -- WATEMELON! Though it is extremely expensive and its quality is extremely low in Norway, I still went to REMA100 to buy one without any hesitation. It cost me 60NOK, about 80 Yuan. I think in China at least I can buy 10 watermelons with much higher quality!!!
Then in the office, I ate this watermelon in the way I did in China: I split it into two parts and ate each with spoon. This way surprised  Mr.T so much. As he said,
--"In my home, we never eat watermelon in this way. My mum slices it and each child only can get one-twelfth..."
When I transferred what Mr.T said to my Mum. Her response was lovely,
--"What a poor boy! The situation in Norway is just like that in China 30 years ago. Next time when he comes to China, no matter what season, I will go to buy a WHOLE watermelon and let him eat as much as he wants..."

Romantic Events 浪漫时分

Normally, we always stay together for the whole day. However, once Mr.T goes outside, he always remembers to bring some gifts for me. The gifts are small and inexpensive, but they contain full of love and care from my considerate Mr.T!!!

Last time when he came back from Oslo, he took a bag of home-made chocolates which is famous as the best chocolate in Norway.
A short trip to downtown he also gave me a surprise with a bag of Chinese Tea (Though after checking the label, I told him our Chinese never drank this kind of Tea :P).
When coming back from IKEA, Mr.T redecorated his table with the name of KIKI.
To facilitate my use of salt, he replaced the big bottle with the small and cut balls.

During this period, I am busy with my spaces, paper and summer school. So Mr.T cooked more frequently.

Sometimes I will ask him to try some Crazy Chinese food, such as Chicken's Feet, Sunflower's Seed, Jujube from Northeast China and spicy curry chicken rice.

To be relaxed, we will choose to go outside for sunshine or hiking if weather permits. These are the most popular outdoor activities in the summer of Bergen.

Bliss Sensation 感动常在

When Mr.T was in Oslo, we kept in touch by sending countless SMS. In the morning, when one woke up, the first thing to do was to send the other "Morning Kiss". At night, then "Good Night Kiss". On the night of the day before Mr.T came back to Bergen, his message said

"Jut close your eyes and think of me :) I will be back to kiss your arm in the morning. Hope it is not too bad. I want my orange to be happy as a kangaroo!" (As mentioned above, my arm was scalded by hot water.)

At first, I treated it as a joke or blessing. However, the next day morning around 7am, Mr.T really appeared in front of my dorm with a tiring but shining face. After a 7-hour night train, he was so tired, but still directly came to give his sleeping princess a REAL morning KISS to wake her up!

One day morning, when I went to the office, I was surprised to find in our common wall there appeared a piece of China Map. Mr.T told me it was a gift from his parents. When they knew their son had a Chinese girlfriend, his parents began to collect information about China and sent them to Mr.T. Hope him to know China better from getting acquainted with Geography of China :)  Thank you for your great consideration, Mr.T's kind and friendly parents!
